Foreword

Since we using local instance on virtual machine first of all we need to set all urls to localhost/ip of virtual machine It's important because gitlab behind the hood will use gitlab.local url, and this address will be unreachable in case we use port forwarding from virtual machine.

Setup local server

After gitlab instance installed let's get in docker container and change external_url setting:

# enter container
docker exec -it gitlab bash

# inside container
sed -i 's|external_url .*|external_url "http://10.0.2.15:85"|' /etc/gitlab/gitlab.rb
gitlab-ctl reconfigure
gitlab-ctl restart
exit

It will take some time and it won't be fast
